MAX PAY AND LIMITATION PAY

A Max Pay is where one person in the couple is claiming an allowance payment and the other person is claiming a benefit payment listed below:

 

  • Jobseeker’s Benefit
  • Illness Benefit
  • Injury Benefit
  • Disablement Pension (when paid with Illness Benefit or Incapacity Supplement)
  • Invalidity Pension
  • State Pension (Con & Non-Con)

 

The Max Payment amount is a ceiling on the total amount which may be paid to the couple. Notification of your own personal rate will be issued with your means assessment breakdown.

A Limitation Payment is where both parties of a couple wish to claim Jobseeker’s Allowance separately. Each get half of the family rate they are entitled to:

(family rate – family mean) X 50%
