March 5 – CAO re-opens to late applicants to CAO.

May 1 – CAO closes to new 1st year applicants.

May 7 – CAO Change of Mind opens for 1st year applicants and closes on 1st July.

What is the CAO Change of Mind?

Applicants may use the CAO Change of Mind Facility from the beginning of May via CAO, and here is no charge for this. Once this is done, an email will be sent to you.

There is no fee for using the Change of Mind facility.

Making Changes via the Change of Mind Option on CAO:

You will need to go into your application (with your unique CAO number) on www.CAO.ie and review your current list of choices.

You may add or remove courses on both your level 8 list and your level 6 and 7 list.

You may also change the order of the preferences.

The only exception to this is for Restricted Application Courses/Restricted Categories of applicant and you may not be able enter on the form courses which did not appear on your original application.

Restricted courses may be courses that require an audition, or portfolio or interview and the application for these usually is made by the 1st of February each year. They will be listed on CAO, but if you are not sure, please contact the relevant university for further information.

Watch the CAO Change of Mind video for a step-by-step guide to the process.

Change of Mind notifications

If you make a change of mind you will receive an e-mail to confirm your new course choices. You can also log onto your account via the My Application facility, to confirm that all of your details are recorded completely and correctly.

It is very important that you do your research on the courses and the modules that are being offered, so that you can make the correct choices.
