These are for applicants who are competing with an Irish Leaving Certificate or an Overseas qualification.
Based on your points, you will be offered a place on one of the courses you have put down on your CAO. It will then be up to you whether you want to accept it or turn it down.
CAO Round 1offers are made after the Leaving Cert results have been released.
If you are eligible (based on your points and meeting the entry criteria for the course), you will be offered a place on one of the courses you have put down on your CAO. It will then be up to you whether you want to accept it or turn it down.
If you accept the offer of a place, CAO will forward the details of your acceptance to the University after the closing date and we will contact all applicants with details of registration and course commencement. This is normally done immediately after the closing of the CAO acceptance date.
Therefore, if CAO closes the acceptances on the 30th of August as an example, the University will send you the registration details around the 3rd of September, with a commencement date of the 10th of September. These dates vary each year, but the time frame is the same.
