If you have worked more than 40 hours in the previous 5 weeks, you are entitled to payment from your employer.  As you are working part time, your employer needs to pay you for any Public Holiday regardless of working that day or not.

Social welfare system automatically will not pay for a Public holiday. If you have not received payment from your employer, please contact them to request payment. If you are not entitled to payment, please get a letter from your employer to confirm that they will not pay you as you are not entitled to payment and contact your local Intreo. A list of Intreo Offices and email information is available here: gov.ie – Intreo centres and local branch offices (www.gov.ie)

Relevant information in relation to Public Holiday Pay can be found here: Public Holidays – Workplace Relations Commission

Please note that if your personal or family circumstances change you must notify your Local Intreo Office to avoid sanctions.
