Established in 1983, Tralee Community Training Centre, soon to become Kerry Horizon Centre, has dedicated itself to supporting early school leavers aged 16 to 21 with their training and educational needs. The centre provides a nurturing environment for up to forty learners, many of whom are early school leavers and young unemployed adults. The centre’s dedicated team, comprising a general manager, an administrative officer, a literacy and numeracy officer, four full-time instructors, and one part-time staff, offers comprehensive training programmes.

They operate on continues intake which means you can start any time. Places are subject to availability.

All courses are free.

Many learners progress on to a variety of QQI Kerry College courses or gain employment upon completion of a course with them.

The centre is open from 8.30am – 4.30pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and 8.30am – 1.30pm Friday.

 

Breakfast Club & Lunch:  Learners can avail of a free breakfast each morning and lunch every day.

 

Classes start at 9am every morning and finish at 3pm, except Friday when classes end at 12.30pm.

 

Transport: Monavalley Business Park is serviced by a number of Transport For Ireland and Local Link bus routes.

 

Training Allowance: 16 & 17 year olds will receive an allowance of €45 per week depending on attendance. 18 – 21 year olds in receipt of a social welfare payment will receive a training allowance of €232.00 per week depending on attendance.

 

Travel Allowance: Learners living further than 5 kilometers from the training centre will receive a travel allowance depending on distance travelled.
